SOMI HIERS is a talented visual artist, graphic designer, and photographer based in Hampton Roads, Virginia. From a very young age, she has held a deep and enduring love and passion for the arts, first realizing her creative potential and her unique vision at just 8 years old. Initially, she explored her creative talents through the art of dance, using movement as a form of self-expression. Soon after, she expanded her artistic journey to include painting and drawing, further developing her skills and creative voice. Somi nurtured this passion throughout her formative years, continuing to practice and refine her craft all the way through grade school and into college. During her higher education, she shifted her focus a bit and pursued studies in graphic design and photography, broadening her areas of expertise.

Somi has consistently used her artwork as a powerful means to express herself, give voice to, and process the darker and more challenging parts of her life and personal history—experiences that shaped her profoundly by her young adulthood. Her art stands as a testament to strength, resilience, self-love, and continuous growth and progress. It serves as both a poignant celebration of life, as well as culture, seen through the lens of the darkest corners of human existence, reflecting a confident, hopeful, and courageous spirit.
